Apoorva
Apurva Kashyap

Apurva graduated in Law from Christ University, Bangalore in 2012 and did a Masters in Social Work from TISS in 2016, having taken a break in between to explore her interests areas, and travel. 

She is leading a research on Gender-based Institutional Violence with Homeless Women.An unrelenting feminist, she lives to see the day when the World would not need feminism anymore. She likes to read and being read to.

Asif has an Honours degree in Geography from Jamia Milia Islamia, Delhi. He has been involved in the issue of homelessness for more than eight years. He completed his Masters in Sociology in 2004 and joined Koshish in 2009.

He has a deep interest in the areas pertaining to Women and Elderly, Livelihood and skill development for homeless. Also a Central Committee member, he heads Delhi unit of the project.

Asif is determined to provide alternative employment opportunities to people in beggary as he firmly believes that every individual wants to work with respect and dignity; it is the opportunity that is usually missing.

He likes travelling, cooking and spending time with friends.

Bhawana completed her masters in Social Work from Department of Social Work, Delhi University. She has also completed graduation in Law.

Part of Delhi unit, she has been working on the issue of homelessness and destitution since 2010. She likes reading books, travelling and cooking.

Nadeem

  • Nadeem has an Honours degree in Sociology from Jamia Milia Islamia, Delhi. He did his post graduation in Sociology from the same college. 
  • He joined Koshish in 2012 and since then he has been an integral part of the Koshish team. With rich experience of the field and poverty situations, he holds the responsibility of individual planning as part of the broader rehabilitation framework. Nadeem is interested in International Politics and Relations along with the issue of homelessness.
  • Nadeem likes chatting, reading and making friends.
 
Tarique

Having an Honours degree in Political Science from Hindu College, Delhi University, Tarique has been part of Koshish since the beginning. He finished his Masters in Social Work with specialization in Criminology and Correctional Administration from TISS in 2006 and has been with Koshish since then.

Part of the advocacy team, he enjoys interacting with students and interns as he believes students to be the most powerful drivers of change.

Nilesh Kamble

Nilesh completed a Masters in Social Work (Mental Health) from TISS, Mumbai and joined the Bihar team of Koshish in July 2017. Additionally, he has also done post-graduation in Economics from S.P. College, Pune.

Nilesh currently handles the community intervention programme and is interested in working extensively in the field of mental health.

He likes to read and travel.

 
Pallavi Thakare

Pallavi is a graduate in Commerce from N.G Acharya D.K Marathe College, Mumbai. She joined Koshish in 2007 and has been a member of the team ever since.

Pallavi has special interest on the issues pertaining to gender related violence and abuse. As a core member of Mumbai unit, she initiated and successfully led 'My Space' program and has evolved that into a model that we are now in the process of taking to various state governments and civil society groups.

Pallavi likes interacting with people, shopping, painting, music and playing outdoor games.

Prem, Social Work graduate from TISS, joined Koshish in 2011. He sees engaging with political class as essential component of strategy to bring the desired change and fight for justice. A central Committee member, he leads our Legal Protection program and work with Pension Parishad.

Prem loves wildlife and enjoys playing chess and performing arts.

 
Qayam

Qayam holds a Masters in Globalization and Labour Studies from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and a Bachelor degree in Sociology and Political Science from Delhi University. He was the core architect of Koshish's work in Bihar started in 2012. He has been instrumental in strengthening Koshish's Advocacy component.

Qayam also has a deep interest in music and poetry.

Sabiya, our youngest team member, is in BA 2nd in year in Delhi University. She is the Community Teacher with the Delhi unit of Koshish.

She loves to talk, cook ,take selfies, and her idea of peace is to be able to spend time with little children.

 
Shashikant
Shashikant Bhalerao
Email

Shashikant has an experience of more that 25 years in working with street children, homeless and persons in addiction. He has done a certificate course in Social Work from Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai.

Based with Mumbai unit, he is currently handling the community outreach work, apart from working inside the institutions.

Shashikant has dedicated a part of his day to physical activities and sports.

SHEKHAR
Shekhar Thapa

Shekhar has been with Koshish for more than 10 years. He has been part of Koshish’s growth over the time. Excellent with community processes, he leads our 'Non institutional program', working with the Homeless and Destitute.

Part of his time is also divided between custodial intervention where he looks after the rehabilitation work for long term clients.

Shekhar likes spending time with people on streets, playing cricket, singing and cooking.

Sunita Vishwas

Sunita is on the Bihar team of Koshish. Having earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Daulat Ram College, Delhi University and a Masters in Social Work (Disability Studies) from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, Sunita joined Koshish in July 2017 and is working with groups of homeless women and children. Her guiding principle is inclusion and she strives to create an egalitarian society where every individual can live with dignity.

Her interests are cycling, traveling and photography.
